Plot Details Revealed for Cameron Crowe's Wacky Romantic Comedy

12 October 2008 10:28 PM, PDT | From firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news

Back in June we brought you the news that Ben Stiller and Reese Witherspoon were set to star in filmmaker Cameron Crowe's next film. At the time it didn't have a title and the story was being kept under wraps. All that was revealed was that it was a contemporary-set romantic comedy adventure. Finally a few updates have arrived today via both SlashFilm and Gone Elsewhere that shed some light on the story. Those who are familiar with Crowe's past work (which includes Say Anything, Jerry Maguire, Almost Famous, and Vanilla Sky) know that his films are anything but ordinary. To whet your appetite, the story revolves around a military contractor and is set in Hawaii surrounding an illegal satellite launch on the island. There are a couple of plot synopses that have popped up, but we'll stick with the one from SlashFilm which actually comes from the pages

Witherspoon And Gyllenhaal Looking For London Home

7 October 2008 9:10 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Hollywood couple Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal are reportedly househunting in London.

The Rendition co-stars, who have been dating since last year, are said to have been viewing a number of properties, both apartments and townhouses, in the upmarket area of Mayfair.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper, Witherspoon is particularly keen on finding a home safe enough for her two young children, from her marriage to actor Ryan Phillippe.

A real estate source tells the publication, "Reese was extremely concerned about security issues.

"She seemed to particularly like places where they could enter and exit not directly onto the street. That's not always an easy thing in Central London, especially Mayfair. But we were able to come up with a couple of places both she and Jake seemed to like."

Gyllenhaal is currently in the U.K. filming scenes for his new movie Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal on the Verge of Splitting

3 October 2008 7:56 PM, PDT | From Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news

The love relationship of Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal reportedly is hitting the rocks due to work commitments. Apparently, the actress finds it hard to be in long distance relationship with the actor as he has to be in Morocco and London filming the upcoming "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time".

"This is his first epic, and his mind is on his work," one of Reese's friends told Star. "They talk on the phone and e-mail, but he's not 'there.' Reese is wondering if this is how it's going to be between them every time he's out of the country filming."

Overcoming the rough patch of their relationship, Reese flew to London in mid September for a quick rendezvous with Jake at The Dorchester hotel. "While there, they even went house hunting for a place because Jake will be using London as his home base until December. Reese doesn't

Are Reese and Jake Struggling With Long Distance?

3 October 2008 9:00 AM, PDT | From Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news

Reese Witherspoon and Deacon wore white well after Labor day shopping in the La heat in Brentwood yesterday. She had a big smile on her face while Deacon talked away looking adorable as ever holding hands with mom. Reese has been spending lots of time with her kids recently, but still missing from the equation is Jake Gyllenhaal who is overseas filming Prince of Persia. Rumor has it that the geographic separation has been difficult on the relationship and that the two are drifting apart. Long distance relationships are never easy, but at least these two have the resources to visit each other often which hopefully eases the stress until they're back together again. X17 Online

Phillippe + Cornish Going 'Great'

29 September 2008 9:09 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Ryan Phillippe's relationship with actress Abbie Cornish is going "great", according to their Stop-loss co-star Rob Brown.

The couple recently went public with their romance - months after they were first linked - and their love is going from strength to strength.

Brown tells People.com, "They're great. I was with them last night. They're good people."

Earlier this year, Phillippe opened up about his 2006 split and subsequent divorce from actress Reese Witherspoon, describing it as "the darkest, saddest place I had ever been".

At the time of their split, Phillippe's relationship with Cornish was blamed for the breakdown of his marriage, but the actor denied he had ever been unfaithful to Witherspoon.

And Brown insists Phillippe is coping well since the divorce was finalised last year.

He adds, "He's all right. He's in good spirits and he seems happy. And I'm happy for him."

Pal: Ryan Phillippe and Abbie Cornish Are 'Doing Great'

29 September 2008 5:40 AM, PDT | From PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news

Ryan Phillippe and Abbie Cornish, who only recently took their relationship public, are thriving as a couple, according to a friend. "They're great," Rob Brown, Phillippe's pal and castmate in last spring's Stop-Loss, told People last week at the Hollywood premiere of The Express. "I was with them last night. They're good people." Phillippe, 33 and Cornish, 26, were rumored to have been dating for months but only attended their first major event as a couple in June, when he proudly accompanied her to the 2008 Australian in Film Breakthrough Awards.Phillippe called his divorce from Reese Witherspoon – who is now dating Jake Gyllenhaal – "the darkest,

AMERICAN PSYCHO... The Musical?!

24 September 2008 9:22 AM, PDT | From iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news

I bet you that Bret Easton Ellis never in a million years could've predicted that his disturbing novel for AMERICAN PSYCHO would one day not only be adapted into a film, but... a Broadway musical?!

The Hollywood Reporter says, "Producers are betting Bret Easton Ellis' novel and screen adaptation AMERICAN PSYCHO will translate to a stage musical, with original 1980s-inspired songs and familiar covers of hits from the era. The Johnson-Roessler Co.'s David Johnson, Craig Roessler and Jesse Singer, the Collective's Aaron Ray and XYZ Films' Nate Bolotin have partnered to acquire, develop and produce the tale of violent Wall Street investment banker Patrick Bateman. Ellis and Edward R. Pressman, the producer of Mary Harron's 1999 film adaptation, will serve as consulting producers."

The article continues, "No director, book writer or songwriters have yet been brought on board the project, but producers say they're in early talks with

Cinematical Seven: The Ghosts That Always WANT Something

Cinematical Seven The Ghosts That Always WANT Something Watching 'Ghost Town' gives you that haunted feeling. It's not like someone's watching you; instead, you're watching something you've seen before. Strip away its particular trappings -- Ricky Gervais' sublime performance as a bitchy dentist, Tea Leoni's neurotic turn as a widowed Egyptologist -- and 'Ghost Town' belongs to an offbeat but popular genre: needy ghosts, and the living who help them. In honor of David Koepp's comedy, we count down others films of its ilk, from best to worst. -- By Raven Snook

Vaughn, Favreau gear up for ‘Retreat’

19 September 2008 9:38 AM, PDT | From screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news

Vince Vaughn, Jon Favreau, Jason Bateman and Faizon Love (cool name!) have signed on to star in Peter Billingsley’s comedy “Couples Retreat,” according to Variety.

Written by Favreau, the plot follows four couples who spend some time at a tropical island resort. Although one of them is there to work on their damaged marriage, the other couples soon discover that participation in the resort’s couple therapy program is mandatory.

As the trade reports, Vaughn apparently came up with the idea for the flick. He did that before for 2006’s disastrous comedy “The Break-Up.” Let’s just hope Favreau’s screenplay has got what it takes to deliver some laughs.

Favreau and Vaughn can next be seen together in Seth Gordon’s “Four Christmases,” which also stars Reese Witherspoon and Robert Duvall. Following “Retreat,” Favreau will launch into the development of the anticipated “Iron Man” sequel.

Bateman recently starred in Peter Berg’s “Hancock.

Reese, Ava & Deacon Make Ryan Nostalgic Before Christmases

16 September 2008 10:00 AM, PDT | From Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news

Reese Witherspoon rolled up her jeans for grocery and magazine shopping with Deacon and Ava in LA on Sunday before heading to Barneys solo yesterday. With Jake away, the kids get mom all to themselves — a treat Jake's Atticus has also been enjoying. This trio always looks so sweet, and while Ryan will admit that he loved being married and still considers Reese a close friend, both of them seem perfectly happy in their current relationships. One place we'll see Reese in a less functional duo is on the big screen with Vince Vaughn this holiday season — check out the full trailer for Four Christmases here. X17 Online and Fame

Trailer for 'Four Christmases' debuts on Web

13 September 2008 8:12 AM, PDT | From screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news

Just like every year in the U.S., the first Christmas flicks start hitting theaters in November already (don't ask me why). One of them this year is Seth Gordon's "Four Christmases," in which Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon play a couple struggling to visit all four of their divorced parents on Christmas Day.

Although this trailer did not really win me over, I have to admit Vaughn and Witherspoon look like a solid enough team to handle this kind of cheap screwball comedy. Robert Duvall, Jon Favreau, Mary Steenburgen, Dwight Yoakam and Sissy Spacek co-star. "Four Christmases" opens Nov. 26, 2008. Enjoy the preview just above.

Four Christmases Trailer

13 September 2008 2:29 AM, PDT | From cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news

Four Christmases is lucky nobody actually saw Christmas with the Kranks, because they're kind of using the same premise. That's alright. It's a decent premise really, one which Kranks never properly took advantage of, and they can't help but do it better than Tim Allen did, so why not. It's the story of a couple trying to avoid the holidays, but forced not only into celebrating Christmas, but into spending it with their respective families as well. I'm sure at the end the positive message of Christmas overwhelms them and there's some glowing moment where they all get into the spirit of the thing, but the movie's first trailer is mostly just Reese Witherspoon being vomited on while Vince Vaughn stands by complaining. Now that's my kind of Christmas movie. Watch the first trailer for Four Christmases below: Watch It In High-res

'Four Christmases' Premieres Trailer

12 September 2008 11:04 PM, PDT | From Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news

Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn-starrer dramedy "Four Christmases" has just uncovered its first trailer. An elaboration from the previously-released TV spot, the trailer brings viewers into the craziness the main characters, Kate and Brad, have to deal with from each of their four families. Meeting their estranged parents' family, the pair faces obnoxious brothers, mother's boy toy and throwing-up babies as well.

A Christmas-themed movie from New Line Cinema, "Christmases" follows a young couple who has managed to spend their Christmas Day with their families for years. This time, they have planned to have a tropical vacation. But, in a twisting event, all planes leaving the city are canceled and their families find out about it. Now, they have to bear one Christmas day with their estranged parents and their new families going from one household to another.

Movie Trailer - Reese and Vince Celebrate 'Four Christmases'

12 September 2008 10:38 PM, PDT | From GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news

Unfortunately, we deal with a lot of rumors when covering even the most unsavory corners of show business. Some you have to take with a grain of salt (Cher playing Catwoman) and others you tend to believe even if there's no empirical evidence (*cough* Ryan Seacrest). So when the rumor mill spat out a little item about the upcoming movie Four Christmases, it was easy to take at face value.

The rumor: Stars Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn didn't get along. The story goes that Vince would show up a little late to the set, maybe more than a little late, and since the film is peopled with some of his bestest buds (Jon Favreau, Peter Billingsley), it was kind of "his" movie set. This, apparently, didn't sit well with Reese, who is famous for exhibiting the exact opposite behavior. I buy this rumor. Those things make sense to me.

Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon's Four Christmases Trailer

12 September 2008 8:23 PM, PDT | From firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news

Four Christmases is your standard big budget Holiday comedy full of all the shenanigans that we see over and over every year. This time, Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon are a couple planning to skip out on Christmas in the tropics, but when all the flights get canceled, they're forced to visit all four of their divorced parents on Christmas Day. Sure it might be charming, sure it might be funny, but it's not going to be the next Holiday classic. Remarkably this is directed by the guy who brought us the awesome documentary The King of Kong last year. Unfortunately Vince Vaughn's humor is getting a bit old and Reese Witherspoon hasn't been funny since American Psycho. Please don't tell me you think this looks good?
