'Who' stars to compete for Nta prize

Doctor Who stars David Tennant and Catherine Tate are to go head-to-head at this year's National Television Awards. Lead actor Tennant and Who newcomer Tate, who played The Doctor's companion Donna Noble, have both received a nomination in a new Outstanding Drama Performance category. However, they will both face competition from Ashes To Ashes star Philip Glenister (Gene Hunt) and The Bill's Alex Walkinshaw (Sgt. Dale Smith). Meanwhile, Hollyoaks star Matt Littler (Max Cunningham) is the only male actor to be recognised in the Outstanding Serial Drama Performance category. Quaid goes back to roots for 'Express'

Jessie Wallace gets 'Strictly' boot

Jessie Wallace has become the fourth contestant to be eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing. The former EastEnders actress and her dance partner Darren Bennett were in the bottom two alongside Heather Small and Brian Fortuna following another all-female round of the competition. Wallace and Small, who had both danced the Quickstep in last night's show, were asked to perform again in the dance-off. 'L4D' pre-sales eclipse 'Orange Box'

Upcoming zombie shooter Left 4 Dead (L4D) has enjoyed greater pre-release popularity than Half-life 2: The Orange Box did at the same stage prior to release. Developer Valve confirmed that L4D's sales figures are currently 60% higher than those chalked up by Orange Box in the North American territory. Smith: 'Liam's Corrie end is horrific'

Coronation Street star Samia Smith has described scenes involving the death of on-screen husband Liam as "horrific". Bungie: No more 'Halo 3' expansions

Bungie has revealed further details about the upcoming Halo 3: Recon, confirming that the expansion will be a "one-off". Oasis score seventh No.1 album

Oasis have rocketed to the top of the UK albums chart with Dig Out Your Soul. The album becomes the band's seventh to reach number one, maintaining their record of topping the charts with every studio LP they have released. Last week's number one, Only By The Night by Kings of Leon, slips to two, while Will Young's Let It Go falls a place to three. Huston 'excited' by new Welles cut

Xbox continues to outsell PS3 in Japan

The Nintendo DS continues to dominate the Japanese market, but the Xbox 360 has outsold the PS3 in the territory for the third week in a row. According to figures from Media Create, the Xbox 360 managed to shift 8,271 units in the week ending October 5, with the PS3 only wracking up 7,232.
