Bernie Mac, 1957 - 2008

9 August 2008 3:52 PM, PDT | From screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news

Bernie Mac, a Golden Globe nominated comic actor known for his roles in “The Bernie Mac Show” and the “Ocean’s Eleven” films, died of complications from pneumonia Saturday in a Chicago area hospital. He was 50.

Born into a rough Chicago neighborhood in 1957, Mac turned to stand-up comedy at an early age. He celebrated his big-screen debut in a small role in Peter MacDonald’s crime comedy “Mo’Money.”

During the ‘90s, Mac took on several minor roles in feature films, including “Friday,” “Get on the Bus” and “How to Be a Player.”

In 2001, Mac starred as Frank Catton alongside George Clooney in Steven Soderbergh’s remake of “Ocean’s Eleven.” He reprised this role in 2004’s “Ocean’s Twelve” and last year’s sequel “Ocean’s Thirteen.”

Other bigger roles that helped Mac’s fame in Hollywood included “Charlie’s Angels” Full Throttle,” “Mr. 3000” and “Bad Santa.”

The new ‘Twilight’ teaser trailer is online!

17 July 2008 4:00 PM, PDT | From screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news

In a couple of weeks, after all the hype around “The Dark Knight” slowly eases off, I’m pretty sure “Twilight” will become the next most anticipated flick of the year. Yahoo! Today posted a brand-new teaser for the flick, and I’m convinced it’s going to generate some solid buzz in the coming days.

Those of you who read and loved Stephenie Meyer’s book will probably adore this preview and get even more excited about the film’s Dec. 12 release, and those of you who didn’t get a chance yet to work your way through the novel should definitely get a better idea of what the plot is really about.

Twilight” is directed by Catherine Hardwicke (“Thirteen”) and stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, among many others. What do guys think of this new teaser? Does it fulfill your expectations so far?

This Whole 'Twilight' Thing is being Blown Out of Proportion

11 July 2008 7:20 PM, PDT | From Rope Of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news

Update: I have learned a few facts. First off, "Twilight", the book, has sold 5.5 million copies in the United States and the film is budgeted at $37 million. I wish I had those facts when I wrote the piece as they may have been helpful. Oh, and for Twilight fans a few extra details on the film's appearance at Comic Con have been revealed. Two new articles have prompted me to take another look at Twilight and what appears to be an online acceptance that this film will be a giant hit no matter what. Last night I started a huge rant article, but trashed it as it was going nowhere. I was to be based on the online reactions to the Entertainment Weekly cover featuring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart as Edward and Bella from the Twilight film. The very first comment over at the Twilight-obsessed MTV Movie Blog
